Chapter 366 Supports the Wilmington VA Clinic ...

VA image1On a weekly basis, the VA Clinic can see up to 100 veterans per day for a fasting blood test. Afterwards, they are most appreciative for a cup of coffee and snack. The coffee center is set up from 9am-12pm, and serves approximately 60 cups of coffee and 40 snacks. (Wednesday is the only day they not provide snacks.) Therefore, below is the quantity of donated items needed per month from AFA Chapter 366:
640 snacks (anything in a wrapped package, such as Lance snack cracker products)
    1200 cups of coffee (ground)
    Sugar (packets or dispenser cans)
    Splenda (packets)
    Creamer (powdered in dispenser cans)
VA image2There are two ways these items can be given to the VA Center:
  • Take your donations to the VA Clinic at 1705 Gardner Rd., Wilmington, NC (across from ILM Airport). Monday-Friday from 9-5. Please fill out the donation form listing your mailing address, AFA as the Organization, all items and the costs. Tyra Hoffman, Voluntary Service Specialist, will mail you your receipt for tax purposes.
  • You can also drop your donations off at David’s Deli, where we have our quarterly meetings. Doug has graciously agreed to let us use his restaurant as a drop off location for convenience. (This is also a great opportunity to meet friends and enjoy good food!) If you need a donation form, there will be extras there in an envelope with the donation box. An AFA member will go by the first week of every month to pick all items up and deliver them to the VA Clinic.
So, the next time you go to Costco or Walmart, stock up on some of those bulk buys of the items listed above. Then drop them off at David’s Deli or at the VA clinic at ILM.
